A Poster Session is a graphic presentation of an author's research. Authors/Presenters illustrate their findings by displaying graphs, photos, diagrams, and a small amount of text on the poster boards. Participation from librarians, library staff, LIS students, and administrators from all types of academic libraries is encouraged. We welcome proposals on any topic related to academic libraries.
2021 Annual Conference Virtual Poster Session Information
For 2021 Annual Conference, poster sessions will be presented using the "Virtual Poster Session" app. Poster presenters will be invited to upload a PDF of their poster and/or a link to where their poster is currently hosted. Registered attendees will have access to view all poster sessions on the opening day of the conference (May 19). On Friday, May 21, 2021 from 9:00 - 9:45 am (EDT), there will be a dedicated time for live Q&A with poster presenters.
Proposal submitters and Poster Session presenters do not need to be members of MiALA
Poster Session presenters must register for the conference
Presenters who fail to upload/present their scheduled poster without previously notifying the conference chair of cancellation will not be permitted to present posters or sessions at any MiALA-sponsored meeting for two years following the "no-show."
Presenters will hold discussions with attendees who are circulating among the poster boards. Many presenters find it helpful to present a brief introduction to answer the obvious questions and all the remainder of the time for more in-depth discussions. Presenters are expected to be present for the entire session.
Presenters are encouraged (but not required) to submit an electronic version of their poster and/or supplemental handouts for posting on the Annual Conference archive page.
Each Poster Session station will have a six-foot easel and a foam core poster board measuring 3 feet (36 inches) TALL and 4 feet (48 inches) WIDE. (A table for handouts can be available upon request prior to the conference)
The maximum poster size should be no larger than the size of the poster board which is 3 feet (36 inches) TALL and 4 feet (48 inches) WIDE. All posters will be mounted horizontally.
The minimum poster size recommended is 2 feet (24 inches) by 3 feet (36 inches) so attendees can see the poster from at least three feet away.
Push pins, tape, and binder clips will be available for mounting your poster onto the poster board.
Posters must be placed on poster boards prior to the Poster Session/Information Fair on Thursday afternoon from 3:45 - 5:30 pm. Access to FLITE will be available on Wednesday afternoon from 4 - 6 pm and again on Thursday from 1 - 2 pm. There may be a small window of time to put up your poster before the event at 3:45, but we encourage the earlier times. If you plan to bring your poster to FLITE after 5 pm on Wednesday, please contact David Scott (email@example.com) prior to Wednesday as FLITE closes at 5 pm.
Posters must remain on the boards throughout the entire Poster Session/Information Fair
Posters need to be removed after the Poster Session/Information Fair on Thursday
Bring only items which can be mounted on poster boards. There will be no electrical or projection capabilities provided.
All items for posting should be prepared in advance, with posting alone remaining. Graphic supplies and/or in-house printing will not be available.
All presentation materials should be prepared for quick assembly prior to the beginning of the Poster Session.
If you will have supplemental handouts, you will be responsible for printing/bringing handouts to the Poster Session.
