Message From the President

I’m excited to celebrate the launch of MiALA’s job board this month! Available from the MiALA Website, this resource allows our members to freely post open positions to the public. I want to acknowledge and thank the Membership Committee for their leadership in bringing this idea to fruition and Kalyn Huson, MCLS Association Coordinator and Administrative Specialist, for providing the Website technical support. I’m pleased to see that positions are already being posted to the board!

Member engagement and value will be a focus of the next MiALA Board meeting, scheduled on November 6. If you have thoughts or ideas regarding how we support each other and our profession, please feel free to reach out to me or Brenna Wade, MiALA’s Membership Committee Chair.

I wish all our members a smooth and productive November and wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!

Job Board Now Available

MiALA now has a job board, located as a link/tab on the homepage navigation bar. The job board is publicly accessible, but only MiALA members can post job openings. To post to the job board, members must be logged in and then go to Member Menu--Resources--Submit Job Board. Job postings will post automatically and disappear after the expiration date.

If you have any questions regarding the job board, please contact membership@miala.org.

IDEA Featured Resource

This month’s featured resource from the MiALA IDEA Resources for Education and Training list is:

Dunbar-Ortiz, R. (2014). An indigenous peoples' history of the United States. Beacon Press.

American history leaves out or glosses over the colonization and genocides committed against the indigenous peoples of this continent. Dunbar-Ortiz writes this history and examines how the violent seizing of land and life from indigenous peoples has influenced American culture to the modern day.

As part of the IDEA Committee's continued effort to build a concise, streamlined list of recent articles, books, reports, training resources and toolkits, websites, videos, terminology resources, and online communities related to IDEA, MiALA members are invited to suggest resources. Make your suggestion using our suggestion form.
